Weekend Break

Hiya! How are you? Hopefully fantastic =)

Me, I'm coming off a make-shift weekend. Sending out my first novel to beta readers was...emotional, to say the least. To be honest, I ended up giving myself Monday & Tuesday to detox, relax, and focus on something other than writing.

I'm getting back into it tonight though, and I'm so happy! Initial feedback from some of the beta-readers was positive, and I'm excited to see what else they say!

Honestly, I'm expecting replies such as "nice first try, but not so much" or "yeah, no." I'm very much one of those people who, in every area of life, is always waiting for the other shoe to drop, and writing is no exception. Hence the reason it's taken me twenty years to get this far O.O

I've already had dreams nightmares about giving up on writing altogether, and crawling into a hole of shame, becoming one of those "yeah, I almost published a book...once" people. I'd rather not do that, but like most writers, I have an over-active imagination, and am a bit cynical and self-deprecating. I'm trying to work on that as a life-project in general, but it isn't easy. I'm not a naturally confident person.

So, all that to say: I needed a break; I took a break; I'm done with my break. I'm terrified of the possible negative "don't quit your day job" responses I might get. At the same time, I'm hopeful and trying to be excited for the possible positive "that was awesome!" responses I might get. At this point, either response is just as likely as the other, and I'm trying to stay neutral til I hear solid feedback.

This author thing is going to test my confidence and feelings of self-worth (or lack there of), but I'm sure it'll all work out for the best. Everything does, right?

In the end, I'm doing what I feel I should. That's what helps me sleep at all. Even if I am a terrible writer, I'm just having fun with it.

My next project, aside from writing: youtube. O.O

Ciao for now!  And remember, Keep Creating!

I'm ready for Beta-Readers?! O.O

Random update, in the wee hours of the morning.  I'm tired, shocked, surprised, excited, and a little dizzy.  Cuz guess what?  I got my manuscript ready for beta-readers!! O.O  =D

My book is the first in a trilogy. It's a Young Adult Paranormal, maybe Contemporary.  Honestly, I'm not sure - never been very good at labeling =P

Anywho, if you'd like to beta-read, feel free to email me at rozewallin at, or message me on FB or Twitter!

Til then, I'll be sitting in shock, looking at the words "End of Part 1" O.O

I Finished My Book Cover! =D

Whoot! =D

I was so nervous, when I decided to design my own cover.  I've heard the horror stories, ya know?  It is enticing, the option to just buy a pre-made cover, all nice and neat.  My issue with that though, is the covers don't really ever match the book, and I don't want that for my books.

I couldn't get past the feeling of needing the over to match my book, so I dove into designing my own.  It's scary, and overwhelming, but what's the worst that'll happen by trying?  Hell, if it blew, I could always purchase a pre-made one, right? ;)

I did all the research, studied up, found some amazing images, and got to work.  12 hours later, not only did I have the cover for the first book in the series finished, but the second book's cover, as well as the rough design for the third book! =D

What excites me even more, is I hadn't figured out the title for even the first book, or the series name yet!  Eek!  Not good, haha.  Luckily, in the cover-design work, I figured them all out! =D  I love them all, and I'm soooo excited!

I think I'm going to work out a title/cover reveal, and see what comes of that.  If nothing else, I'll have something to put up on Goodreads and Amazon when I release it =P

Whoot! It's all coming together!  Thank God =)

Update: Touching Things Up!

Bonjour lovelies!  How are you?  Hopefully wonderful =)

I thought it was time for an update, and I'm so nervous!  Tbh, this whole author thing is overwhelming.

The writing part is fantastic, and I love it.  The publishing part though, not so much.  Which is why I've been writing since I was six, and have yet to publish anything, beyond local stuff.

I'm finally taking the plunge though, and getting everything figured out.  I'm sure every newbie author can relate to the butterflies in my stomach.  Especially indie authors, as that's the route I've decided to go, for now.  Yikes!  Haha

I'm not naturally a "Hey, look at me!" type person, and just having blogs the past few years has pushed me to my limits.  As those are expanding however, I'm finding the idea of self-publishing more tangible.

I'm in the final stages of editing at the moment, preparing to prepare (lol) to send my manuscript to beta-readers.  I'm generating a list, and getting that all set up.  (If you'd like to beta-read for me, feel free to send me an email or PM!)

In addition to that, I've been reading different articles on advice for new authors the past few weeks.  They all gave me that face-palm moment, as I realized how unintentionally far behind I am.  I didn't have a website, newsletter, or any kind of social media set up, which apparently, is a big waste of opportunity.

So, as I now realize I need to set up author stuff, so I can promote the book when it's published, that's what I've spent the better part of the past week doing.  Yikes.

All this to say, I'm so busy, and overwhelmed!  I really am loving it though, and am so glad to be doing this.

For any already-published or soon-to-be-published authors, do you have any other advice or tips you'd like to share?  I'm always happy to take suggestions =)

If you'd like to sign up for my newsletter, follow me on Twitter, friend me on Facebook, or check out my website, I'd be honored! =D

Thanks so much for visiting, and for reading.  I appreciate it =)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hiya everybody!  Happy Thanksgiving!

I know this blog is new, and my other blogs have been slightly boring for a while, which I hate, and makes me cringe.  I have definite plans to get back to blogging, on all my blogs, asap, as well as pick up blogging here.  Well, aside from writing awesome books ;)

I wanted to take time out today though, to say thank you.

I don't know what you're doing today, or what your outlook on this holiday is, or if you even celebrate it.  What I do know, is that you're awesome, and I'm thankful for YOU.  When I say my prayers today, I'll be including you in there.

Thank you all for following us, for reading our goofy posts, and for always inspiring us to do better.

Have a wonderful day, no matter what you're doing, and we'll talk to you all soon! :D

Writing Milestone!

So, I'm writing a bunch of books at the moment.  I started a new one last year for NaNoWriMo, and decided to keep going with it this year (I didn't end up finishing in time lol no shock).  I've been writing in it on and off, until a couple months ago, when I really decided to try and finish it this year.

Last night, I wrote the ending!  It was such an amazing feeling!! :D

rdj happy dancing

As any writer knows, it's far from over.  Now comes the several read-through sessions where I'll fill in details, expand points, and basically just work out any kinks.  Then there's the editing, and beta reading, which I've already got a long list of people for.

baby speed-reading frantic

Bottom line - I'm so excited!  I am so close, I can almost taste it.  I will be a published author soon, and boy oh boy, does it feel good xD

Can't wait to see this one finished.  Published.  Out there and living.  Such a fun process.  Definitely one of my dream jobs :)
